Journey overview

Karnataka without the rush

This journey is for travellers who would rather see less and enjoy more. It uses four bases instead of six: two nights in Bengaluru to recover from the flight, then three nights each in royal Mysuru, the coffee hills of Coorg and the estate country of Chikkamagaluru, with the Hoysala temples of Belur and Halebidu close by. Each stay includes a day with nothing planned, and every outing is optional.

It differs from Karnataka Classic by design. Karnataka Classic covers more ground in 10–12 nights, includes the early-morning forest drives at Kabini and ends with the long drive north to Hampi. Gentle-Pace Karnataka has no early safaris, no transfer over about five hours, half as many hotel changes and a return to Bengaluru, so the flight home is from the airport you arrived at. It suits seniors, mixed-age families and long-haul visitors, but it is not only for them: anyone who prefers comfort to coverage will like it.

Route summary

  1. Bengaluru — 2 nights
  2. Mysuru — 3 nights
  3. Coorg — 3 nights
  4. Chikkamagaluru, for Belur and Halebidu — 3 nights
  5. Bengaluru — 1 night, near the airport, then depart

A 10-night version gives Bengaluru and Mysuru one night less each. Kabini can replace Coorg for travellers who want a gentle wildlife stay (boat outings rather than long drives); a 14-night version adds a rest night at Mysuru and Coorg.

Who it suits

Who this journey suits

For travellers who measure a holiday by how rested they feel at the end of it, not by how many places they ticked off.

  • Couples who dislike rushed itineraries and early starts
  • Families with mixed ages, from grandparents to young children, travelling in one vehicle
  • Long-haul international visitors who want two quiet nights to recover before touring
  • NRIs bringing parents back to India for a comfortable holiday
  • Anyone who wants lighter sightseeing days and time to simply sit on a veranda

Highlights

Gentle-Pace Karnataka highlights

Two nights to arrive

A full rest day in Bengaluru after the flight, with a short city outing only if you feel like it.
