Overview
Where Kabini meets Nagarhole
Kabini is the name most travellers know for the southern side of Nagarhole National Park, where the Kabini river and its reservoir form the edge of the forest. On a Kabini wildlife tour you stay at a lodge or resort near the park and head out in the early morning and late afternoon.
Nagarhole is part of a much larger protected landscape that includes Bandipur, so it combines naturally with other wildlife areas.

When to visit
Wildlife travel is possible across much of the year, but weather, vegetation, safari conditions and sightings vary by season. In the drier months the forest tends to be more open and the afternoons hotter; during the monsoon, roughly June to September, it is lush and some activities may be limited or closed. Safari numbers, timings and vehicles are set by the Forest Department, and safaris can be paused or restricted at short notice, so we confirm what is running for your dates.
How long to stay
Two nights allow three or four outings; three nights give more chances and more time to rest. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, so more time simply means more opportunities.
How Kabini fits with Mysuru, Bandipur and the BR Hills
Kabini lies between Mysuru and Coorg, so it fits easily into a Karnataka route, approximately 5–6 hours from Bengaluru and 2–3 hours from Mysuru. It pairs well with Bandipur and the BR Hills on a dedicated wildlife week, or with Mysuru and Coorg on a broader tour.
Bandipur
Bandipur, south of Mysuru on the road to the Nilgiris, is another Karnataka forest reserve within the same protected landscape. Some private wildlife routes, such as Wildlife Triangle, can spend two nights there after Kabini, and the drive to Ooty, Coonoor and the Nilgiris passes through it. Each reserve sets its own safari arrangements, timings and vehicles, so we confirm what is available for your dates, and not every route combines both parks.
Private vehicle options
Your chauffeur-driven vehicle takes you to and from your lodge. Safaris themselves run in park-approved vehicles under forest department rules, not in your own car.
Vehicles are booked by category, with the exact model or similar subject to availability. See car and coach rentals with driver or our fleet page.
